Rubber Tired Gantry (RTG) cranes
Rubber Tired Gantry cranes (RTG cranes) are rubber-tired bridge cranes which are mainly used for stacking containers.
They are available in a variety of different widths and heights. Approx. 3-6 containers can be positioned side-by-side between the supports and 4-5 containers can be stacked on top of each other.
The drive power of the hoisting motor depends primarily on the hoisting speed required and is between160 and 250 kilowatts. The trolley travelling winch is moved by means of 2 drive motors, each with a capacity of 18.5 kilowatts and, in order to drive the large rubber-tired wheels either 4 or 8 drive motors each with 30 kilowatt capacity are often used.
A special feature of our drive motors for RTG cranes is that they have been developed individually for this purpose and, in comparison with serial motors, are therefore extremely efficient. This means a significant reduction in energy costs. A system equipped with Wölfer motors pays for itself within a short time. We supply these RTG drive motors directly to crane constructors or outfitters.
